In December 2020, Dr Dan Lash from Exeter University published ‘A Method to Calculate Greenhouse Gas Savings Arising from Applegate Marketplace Ltd.’, a report that outlined a method Applegate could adopt to quantify the savings in greenhouse gas emissions from innovative features on the marketplace.

Work continued with the University of Exeter to assist councils to allocate more spend with local businesses, with the ambition to strengthen local economies and reduce carbon emissions by selling locally. 

In the Autumn of 2022, Applegate joined The Troy Group, one of the UK’s leading engineering distributors. One of the focus areas developed through the new relationship was the vital issue of climate change.

With Applegate’s extensive knowledge of data and artificial intelligence, Troy’s vast network of members and suppliers within the engineering sector and support from the University of Exeter, CarbonImpact was developed and released to market in the summer of 2023.
